"Cluster Admin" for Windows 7 RTM?
I installed RSAT on the Windows 7 RTM, now the "Cluster Admin" is gone, and replaced with "Failover Cluster Manager"?? But with "Failover Cluaster Manager", it can not connect to the existing cluster created by Windows 2003 server, the error is "The cluster service is not running"......" error code: 0x800706d9, there are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper".How can we fix that?

It is a design improvement, and is not backward compatible. We may need to manage Cluster Admin on Windows Server 2003 via Remote Desktop connection, or upgrade the servers to Windows Server 2008.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Personally I think it is one of Microsoft's biggest failings that they don't plan for past versions of server management with newer client operating systems. The same kind of thing happened with Windows XP managing Windows NT/2000 servers. Since RSAT says you can't have 2003 tools installed, and RSAT can't manage 2003 completely, it seems like Microsoft really wants server administrators to stick with XP.Network and Systems Manager

I agree with NetMage. i am having the same issue. It seems irresponsible for Microsoft to not include some sort of backward compatibility for a tool with the importance of Cluster Administrator. We have over 500 servers, of that, we probably have 60 or so clusters...with the need to manage these clusters from a single point without having to jump through hoops, crack open a vm or rdp session.

The Failover Cluster Manager is NOT an improvement over CluAdmin. But then again- What can we expect out of a company that pushed VISTA as an improvement over XP? Lets agree to call this rain.

I have to also agree, many shops have a range of older gear around. Managing it all is a real headache. In my shop 2 machines use different versions of Windows 7, got an XP machine and my Linux box, of course there is a few wireless users as well with weird iron. My MVP is for the Windows Desktop Experience, i.e. Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 IT I am best with C++ and I am learning C# using Visual Studio 2010 Developer | Windows IT | Chess | Economics | Hardcore Games | Vegan Advocate | PC Reviews
